Disney Professional Internships

Roles

PI Roles

Disney Professional Internships are a little different than the Disney College Program. These internships are major related, and have different qualifications. These internships are offered twice a year, in the Fall and in the Spring. The applications do not upload in a large group like the DCP application does. Instead the applications have scattered upload dates, with different timelines for each position. Not every position is uploaded every semester, so it can be difficult to plan for what you want to apply for. Disney Professional Internships are spread out around the world, and across every aspect of the Walt Disney Company.

Tip: Search Professional Internships online at least one semester prior to the season you plan to apply. This will help you tailor your resumes and cover letters ahead of time. It will also give you a better idea of what Disney Recruiters in your field are looking for.

Application Process

PI Application Process

Every application process will be different for each professional internship you apply to. You may have one phone interview, you may have two. You may also have two blue jeans interviews, or you won't have one at all. Some applications also require a writing sample or portfolio, but others do not. Doing your research about the application process for the specific internships you are interested in will be beneficial in the long run.

One thing to note about the Professional Internship process is the difference in time frames. Several internships may upload to the Disney Career website on the same day, but the time frame for each internship is completely different. Two people may apply for different internships on the same day in August. One candidate may have two interviews and receive an offer by October. The other may not hear anything about a first round interview until October. It all depends on the recruiter and the hiring team for each internship. Considering these factors, I discourage you joining the Facebook groups for the Disney Professional Internships Application Season. It can be easy to get caught up worrying about your application process when others are successful. Until you receive a "no longer in consideration" email, you are still in the running.

One thing that is fantastic about Professional Internships, is the variety of positions offered to students of all programs. For many programs (Hospitality, Communications, Marketing, etc.), there can be over 15 internships for your major each season. While it may seem good to spread your luck and apply to everything, make sure to read each job description carefully. Only apply to the internships you see yourself doing. Recruiters can see all the internships you applied for, and if you cast your net too wide, it may seem like you do not have a clear focus. It can take several seasons of applying for Disney Internships and Programs before you receive an offer. Do not get discouraged, and put your best foot forward every time!
